Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi there, I’m Splashy, and true to my name, I love splashing around in a kiddie pool. My mama is a 45-pound Wire-Haired Terrier mix, and while we’re not quite sure who my dad is, we think he might be a handsome Chocolate Lab. Either way, I ended up with the perfect mix of cuteness and charm. I’ve been growing up in a loving foster home where I’ve had lots of love and attention—including from a toddler! My foster family says I’m a sweet, gentle girl who’s affectionate, friendly, and well on my way to being a fantastic family companion. If you’re looking for a fun-loving pup with a gentle heart and a playful spirit, I might just be your perfect match. Come meet me—I can’t wait to make a splash in your life! Schedule an appointment today! Call 530-895-8888. We don't offer holds; pets can be adopted anytime. Schedule an appt or simply Apply to adopt Applied in the last 6 months? Just call!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
