Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). #A5707694 Meet Wally , a 4-year-old Labradoodle with long legs who resembles a small version of the Irish Wolfhound. Wally is a gentle and sensitive guy who has found the shelter stressful, where he is shy and overwhelmed. He just needs a little time in a more secure and calm environment to let his personality shine. Wally has been good around other dogs at the shelter, and shows signs of having some basic training (we suspect he is housebroken). With steady love and trust, this tender boy will bloom - and when he does, you'll have a loyal, loving companion for life. -4 year old black and grey Labradoodle mix -56 pound male - Wally hasn’t been neutered yet because he picked up a little doggy cold at the shelter and needs to get better first; he can be adopted on a health waiver and neutered later, which the shelter may be able to help with -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 6/19/25 as a stray -long, lithe, leggy shadow grey pup, with a wavy, shaggy coat - very distinguished and regal, with a unique wolfish look -shy and scared in the shelter environment - don't let his presentation in the kennel put you off! Wally may bark and not show his best side in his cage, but once you take him out and get to know him, he calms down and warms up beautifully -needs a kind and gentle adopter or foster willing to give him some time to decompress from the shelter -Wally may need a little extra finesse and some upfront investment, but you'll be richly rewarded with watching him blossom into his best self firsthand, and he'll give you all his love and loyalty in return youtube/shorts/tRV42CZ0h5A For more information, contact volunteer Katja at katjahope4animals or 951-973-2757. ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. Breed overview
Overview:
The Labradoodle is a mix between the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle. Both breeds are excellent for children and families. The Labradoodle became known in 1988, when Australian breeder Wally Conron crossed the Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle at the Royal Guide Dogs Associations of Australia in Victoria. Conron's aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of the Labrador, and to provide a guide dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander. Sultan, a dog from this litter, displayed all the qualities Conron was seeking and worked as a guide dog for a woman in Hawaii for ten years. Although Guide Dogs Victoria no longer breed Labradoodles, they are bred by other guide and assistance dog organizations in Australia and other places. The Association for the Blind of Western Australia has introduced Labradoodles into their training program, and their first, Jonnie, graduated in November 2010. Labradoodles are now widely used around the world as guide, assistance, and therapy dogs as well as being popular family dogs. The Norwegian Royal Crown Prince and Princess own a Labradoodle.
