Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Ceelo! Ceelo is a gentle soul that is looking for a quiet home where he can take his time to adjust and feel safe. We rescued Ceelo, and his brother Leroy, from a high kill shelter, where their lives were at risk of ending too soon, simply because they are timid. These boys are super bonded to each other and seem to use each other as a form of security; if you see one of them the other is sure to be curled up right next to them. Ceelo is shy of people, though he will allow you to pick him up, if you calmly corner him and slowly pick him up. These boys adjust well to routines and know when and where to go to be let outside and back inside again. If you are calm, patient, and willing to give a pair of timid dogs a chance at a real home, apply to meet Ceelo and Leroy today! Excited to find your new family member at Wags and Whiskers? Our pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. Many come from unknown backgrounds, so please consider the 10+ year commitment. Schedule an appointment today! Call 530-895-8888. We don't offer holds; pets can be adopted anytime. Schedule an appt or simply Apply to adopt Applied in the last 6 months? Just call!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
