Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Phil! Cute little Phil was found as a stray on someone's property. Despite best efforts, no owner was found. He has some injuries from cheat grass but he is in good shape now and in a lovely foster home. Phil is about 2 years old and 12 lbs. Phil is a sweet boy. He is very friendly with all people. He loves going for walks and is no couch potato. He will need a more active family and a home with a yard where he can have zoomies and play around. Phil gets along with other dogs but can resource guard high value items like special bones. He is on the dominant side with other dogs. Phil can be an escape artist and will need a secure fenced yard that he cannot dig out of. Phil is vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $450. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. Thank you for stepping up to save a life! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
