Meet Ouiser 10 years old • 12.5 lbs • Chinese Crested / Yorkie mix If you’re a Steel Magnolias fan, you already know: the original Ouiser was tough, hilarious, and full of heart—and this little lady lives up to the name. Ouiser is a 10-year-old, blind beauty with big energy in a tiny package. She may be vision-impaired, but she doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to people. She loves humans instantly and will happily trot right over for affection or a snack. She's affectionate, enjoying gentle pets, cozy snuggles, and your calm company on her terms. Like her namesake, Ouiser has opinions and isn't shy about expressing them. She doesn’t like to be surprised—especially by grabby hands or other animals—and will let you know if her personal space is invaded. She’d thrive as the one and only pet in a quiet, adults-only home where her boundaries are respected and her personality is celebrated. She enjoys lounging on the couch (keep an eye on her so she doesn’t roll off!), short walks, and soft toys. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Ouiser’s adoption fee is $100. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
