Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Atlas may be the runt of his litter, but no one told him that! At 13 weeks old, he’s a confident, clever little pup who greets the world with a wagging tail, a fearless heart, and the swagger of someone who knows he’s adorable. He just hit a growth spurt, so we estimate he will be 60-70 lbs. Atlas was the first of his siblings to explore, to learn “sit,” and to show off his personality. He's SO Smart! Give him a treat and he can learn a new trick in under 5 minutes. He currently knows: sit, stay, lay down, touch, shake and spin at 13 weeks old! This tiny-but-mighty boy is the ultimate explorer—hence the name Atlas! He’s especially fond of playtime with rolling toys and has a playful little growl that friends say sounds just like baby Simba. He’s got a high energy level and will thrive in a home with plenty of activity, toys, and interaction. A fenced yard isn’t required, but it would be a big plus for this zoomie king. Atlas has been working on potty training and is picking it up so quickly! He's 99% potty trained now. He's a quick learner, so he's also used to sleeping in a crate at night and quickly learning boundaries (like what he can chew on and what he can’t.) He is always the first of his siblings to approach a new dog, all tail wags and ready to say hi! He would LOVE to have a doggy sibling in his forever home, but this is not required. As a typical puppy, he can be pretty mouthy so he may need some redirection when playing with kids and he responds well. He has not been tested with cats. Atlas had a tough start to life, earning a few battle scars and a survivor’s spirit after his mama (a struggling stray) had difficulty caring for her pups. But you’d never know it now—he’s living proof that the smallest pup can have the biggest heart. If you’re looking for a best friend who’s ready to explore the world with you, Atlas is your guy. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
