Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: Poughkeepsie, NY Meet Neely! Neely is a 5-month-old Cattle Dog mix with a lively spirit and a compact build, weighing about 15 pounds. She’s full of energy and curiosity—always ready to explore and play! Neely is also deaf, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit. She’s incredibly smart and responsive, already picking up on visual cues and hand signals during training. She’s social and affectionate, loves playing with other dogs, and enjoys spending time with people. Like many herding breeds, Neely can be a bit mouthy when excited, but she’s learning quickly with consistent guidance. She’s crate trained, doing great on leash walks, and steadily making progress with house training. Neely is looking for an active and patient family who will continue her training and embrace her unique way of experiencing the world. If you’re ready for a fun, loving, and clever companion, Neely might just be the perfect addition to your pack! Neely is up to date on all age appropriate vetting. Neely will be adopted with a spay contract. Contact EricaAndParkergmail, Complete an Application: search.app/x6VdVLYHVyXCqR9G7

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
