Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Cattle Dog / Mixed. Meet Snugs!!! Where are our Heeler lovers at?!! This boy is such a hunk and is hoping to find a forever home soon! Snugs is a young adult, medium size Heeler who was found roaming outside of a Dollar General in MWC. Snugs is neutered and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. Snugs loves to cuddle, but he also loves being outdoors, playing fetch, and playing in water! He would made a great companion for outdoor adventures of any kind! Snugs knows his basic commands. He rides well in a vehicle. He is potty trained and crate trained. He is good with dogs and kids, but has not been tested around cats.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
