Follow Kimble on Instagram at instagram/himynameis_kimble Name: Kimble Best Guess for Breed: Terrier/Shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 4.5 years as of July 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 59 lbs Gets Along With: Kimble has lived with dogs, but should not go to a home with a cat. We haven't seen him with children but we're happy to discuss safe introduction techniques. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Kimble is Looking For: Poor Kimble wants a love that will last a lifetime and a true forever family. Kimble was previously adopted from Lucky Dog in 2021 but then was picked up as a stray wandering the streets in July 2025. His adopter has not responded to attempts to get in touch so Kimble is once again without a family. He'd love to find a new family that will return his unconditional love and won't abandon him again. He promises to be a very good boy and would love to join all your adventures - hiking, road trips, long walks on the beach - or to curl up by your side for movie marathon nights. Kimble just wants to feel loved and safe with a family of his very own once again. What My Foster Says About Me: Kimble is a sweet, loyal boy who loves going on walks, playing in the yard, or relaxing on the couch with his people. He doesn’t need constant attention but likes being close. His leash manners have improved a lot—he used to pull but has made great progress! He enjoys sniffing everything and taking in all the sights, making him the perfect picnic buddy. Kimble is a little goofball and loves rolling in fluffy grass. Inside, he’s calm, rarely barks, and is always up for a game of tug. He hasn't had any accidents inside, he's crate-trained, and the ultimate movie-night companion—expect him to snuggle right between you. Kimble would thrive in a home where someone is around during the day, as he truly loves being near his people. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm testing. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
