Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Terrier / Mixed. Embers is bursting with so much joy, she practically sparkles! This 1-year-old, 33-pound bundle of love is likely a lively mix of Australian Cattle Dog and Terrier — and she brings out the best of both breeds: intelligence, energy, and an endless supply of affection. Embers sees every day as an adventure and every person (or animal!) as a new best friend. She is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-approved — making her a fantastic addition to just about any household. Her behavior around cats is still unknown, but she definitely seems like an adaptable pup. Whether it is a hike, a game of fetch, or curling up for cuddles after a fun-filled day, Ember is always ready to share her love and zest for life. Embers is currently working on her house and leash training. She has successfully learned her crate training. With a little patience and consistency, she should settle into a routine in no time. Embers is focused on finding her forever home where she can light up the life of her adopter with her joyful spirit. Could it be yours? * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Embers is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
