Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 395.00. Rudy is a 9 yo beautiful shepard/lab mix. He grew up in a house with dogs (including his mother Pasja who is also looking for her retirement home.) He was surrendered as an older gentleman "had too many dogs and could no longer take care of all of them". He is friendly, a bit shy meeting people at first. Gets along well with other dogs He is a big boy at 78 Lbs! In Alabama looking for his freedom ride to NH.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
