Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 600. Denise is the definition of a lap dog, she’s happiest curled up as close as possible, and she’ll stay snuggled for as long as you’ll let her. She transitioned into her Texas foster home with ease and has been thriving ever since. She gets along beautifully with other dogs, from tiny puppies to adults, and fits in like she’s always been part of the pack. She was picked up as a stray and landed at the Conroe Animal Shelter, where she arrived with demodex mange and patchy fur. After some care and healing, she’s back to feeling good and enjoying life. One of her signature moves is sleeping upside down, head in your lap, back end propped on the couch cushion, completely relaxed and content. Denise is quiet for the most part, with only the occasional bark if startled or when there’s commotion outside. She hasn’t been leash tested yet due to the Texas heat, but she’s easygoing and adaptable, so with time and patience, she'll likely take to it just fine. She’s looking for someone who loves to snuggle as much as she does and is ready to welcome a calm, affectionate companion into their life. Denise is small in size but full of love, and more than ready for her forever lap. Denise is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 7/26/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and 11am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
