Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. An adult-only home would be preferred with people who are experienced with Chihuahuas - he is not a fan of children as they can be loud and unpredictable. He is food aggressive and dominant with other dogs, but behind that thick exterior he spends most of his days as a full-time cuddle bug. He's decent with cats (we have one), but does bark & chase them playfully. He's a typical chihuahua - very nippy when he wants to be, but likes to snuggle and be pet. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Reese is participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, so ongoing care and custody is provided by his foster, not by DFWRM.

Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
