Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Nova! The Shepherd mix is looking to be someone’s sidekick. She previously lived primarily outdoors but has been neat and demure since her arrival at the Shelter. We anticipate that after a transition period, she will enjoy snuggling up on the couch with you and soak up the indoor-dog lifestyle. Nova previously lived with another dog and enjoyed his company. A young whippersnapper of a dog she met at the Shelter was a bit too rowdy for her and she said “no thank you”. A home with another dog may be a fit but a little speed dating prior to adoption is recommended. Nova has been around chickens on her previous property but is not to be trusted so a chicken-free home is recommended unless there is secure fencing/housing to keep the chickens separate from the pup. Nova knows “sit” and “down” and would like to bond with their next guardian through positive reinforcement based training. Now through July 19th, adoption fees are reduced to $70 thanks to the BISSEL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelter event! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
