Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Elektra is a sweet, gentle soul who's been slowly blossoming in her foster home. After a difficult past, she has been spending time decompressing and each day brings new little wins. From her very first tail wags to cautiously napping outside her crate and even following her foster around the house, Elektra’s bravery and quiet curiosity are shining through. While still shy and not quite ready for pets, she’s begun investigating her human with cautious interest. Her favorite things include mealtime (especially her Farmer’s Dog meals), lounging in her cozy new bed, and quietly observing the world around her. Elektra’s energy is low to medium, but it's hard to know her full personality just yet—she’s still building her confidence in a safe environment. She’s reliably using pee pads inside the house (she never misses!) and is fully crate trained. Elektra would thrive in a quiet home with patient humans and possibly a calm, confident dog companion to help show her the ropes. A home near a park or outdoor space would be a bonus as she gradually builds trust and becomes ready for more adventures. She needs a home that understands the beauty of going slow—and celebrates every little milestone with her. She’s working on trusting humans and gaining confidence. While she doesn't know any commands yet, with time, love, and encouragement, she’ll get there.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
