Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Shadow! Shadow is a 3-year-old pup born approx 6/21/22 with a heart full of love and loyalty. She’s fully potty trained, does wonderfully in her kennel, and finds comfort in having a safe, cozy spot to finally call her own. Shadow is a sweet and affectionate snuggle-bug with her person, but she also has plenty of playful energy. She loves to run, bark, and chase after balls. While she can be reactive at first and needs slow, patient introductions with new dogs, she has the potential to be a good canine companion once she feels secure with her family. She would also thrive in a place where she can express herself vocally without limitations. Because of her high prey drive, Shadow will keep a close watch on squirrels and would do best in a home without cats (not cat tested). She’s also a bit jumpy when excited, so a household without small children may be the safest fit. Shadow thrives in a calm, structured environment and has so much potential to shine with the right person. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will make you laugh with her sweet little quirks, cuddle with you on the couch, and join in on everyday adventures, Shadow may be the perfect match! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Dental, Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
