Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Hi, I am August, an 8 week old terrier mix puppy! I am a loving, happy, and curious boy. I have one brown eye and one blue eye. I love to snuggle and sleep on you when I am tired, and I am also able to go into my kennel to sleep as well. I am still learning all about the world around me, and I am curious about everything. I love to chew on everything. I love to run and play with the other dogs at my foster home, especially my brother; we are quite a team and get a little over-excited at times. I recently found out I am deaf. Because of this, I am not able to hear the growls or hisses from dogs and cats trying to correct my puppy biting, and I don’t understand when to back off. I don’t hear my sibling screaming when I chew on him too hard, and I have no idea I am hurting him. I would do best in a home with a patient and gentle dog who can teach me and tolerate me while I am learning. I sleep all night in my crate, which has a potty pad in it in case I need it in the middle of the night. I am making good progress with house training, but I am still young, so I am learning. My foster family has me on a good schedule, which helps me. I can only be left alone for 4 hours at a time due to my puppy bladder. My foster mom says I am adorable-- very sweet and loving. I like to use my voice when I need something, so I would not be a good fit for an apartment or house with shared walls. I would do best in a fenced in yard because I can’t hear sounds or people calling me if I get off leash. I would love a family that can give me the attention I need and a place to run and get some energy out. I would do best in a home with children over 10 years old. I love to snuggle and be held when I am sleepy. Cuddles are the best! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
