At first, Pixie might come across as shy and unsure, but give her time, patience, and a quiet space to decompress, and she’ll soon be nestled next to your heart like she’s always belonged there. Once Pixie bonds with you, get ready for heart-melting gazes and sweet companionship. She’s not a fan of kennels—especially when she can’t see her people—so apartment life with shared walls probably isn't her jam. A calm, homey environment suits her best. House training is still a work in progress, and at 9 years old, she needs a patient and understanding guide to help her along the way. She thrives with the companionship of another dog and would absolutely adore a calm, confident pup to show her the ropes and keep her company. Leashes are currently a no-go for Pixie—she finds them very scary—so a fenced-in yard is a must where she can explore safely at her own pace. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
