Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Hi, I’m Betsy! I’m a small, sweet bully mix who came to the shelter just after the 4th of July with my sister, Kennedy — and we’re a bonded pair, which means we need to stay together. ❤️ New places and loud noises can make me a little nervous, but Kennedy helps me be brave. She’s my best friend and my comfort, and I feel safest when she’s by my side. I’m crate trained, potty trained, and once I feel comfortable, I’m very gentle and loving. I might be shy at first, but with patience and kindness (and Kennedy!), I’ll come out of my shell and show you just how sweet I am. We’re looking for a calm, loving home where we can stay together and thrive. If you have room for two best friends, we promise to fill your life with twice the love. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
