Dog Breed: Dachshund / Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Meet CHAKARRON! Chakarron was saved from a high-kill shelter in Calfornia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Saturday 19 July. We post our available dogs in states across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs — families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and, hopefully, take home their new best friend. Health & Background ✅ Neutered ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ On monthly flea/tick preventatives ✅ Microchipped ⚖️ Weight: 10.8 lbs (mid July) Estimated DoB: 24 March 2025 FOSTER FAMILY On 2 November Chakarron was lucky to go and live with a foster family, who were adopters of one of his friends when he travelled up from California. I will update with pictures and more information when he has settled in. What CHAKARRON Needs Chakarron is a very active, fun loving, affectionate, inquisitive boy. He needs an active lifestyle with lots of adventures so he can let the hound side of his nature explore and take in all the smells, sights and sounds the world has to offer. ‍♀️ An active family that can meet his physical and mental exercise needs Mental stimulation and enrichment — structure, toys, puzzles, and engaging activities ️ High-quality food and treats to keep him healthy and energized Regular veterinary wellness checks for preventive care and long-term health ❤️ Time to adjust and feel safe — patience to decompress and build trust ‍ Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $550 Location: Foster Family - Augusta, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. The Doxle, an endearing hybrid of the Beagle and Dachshund, is a relatively new designer breed that emerged from the desire to combine the best traits of its parentage. Typically a small to medium-sized dog, Doxles often inherit the long, low body of the Dachshund with the floppy ears and distinctive coloring of the Beagle, though their appearance can vary. Their temperament is generally a delightful mix: the Beagle's friendly and curious nature blends with the Dachshund's loyalty and playful spirit, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being affectionate and intelligent, though they can possess a stubborn streak and the Beagle's propensity for scent-following. Doxles adapt well to various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise to manage their energy levels and prevent boredom. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of health concerns prevalent in their parent breeds, such as back issues (intervertebral disc disease) from the Dachshund side and epilepsy or ear infections from the Beagle.
