Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A SWEET COMPANION: Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 9 lbs. Hi everyone, I’m Helena! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am so happy that I was rescued! I was adopted for a little over a week, but I just couldn’t get along with the other dog in the home, so I’m back and looking for a home where I can be your only dog! I’ve just gone into a foster home, so there will be even more information about me soon. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I did not like the other dog in my temporary home and didn’t care for the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts. So, I’d like to be your only dog. / Cats unknown. / I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so a home with kids ages 10 and up could be a good fit for me. Let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m described as a super sweet and friendly little girl who loves everyone I’ve met — even the delivery people! I’m a happy cutie who soaks up attention like sunshine, and people say I’m easy to love on because I’m just that cuddly. I ride really nicely in the car, and I even stayed calm during all those loud July 4th fireworks (impressive, right?). I’ve been called a special little girl, an angel, and the sweetest companion — and honestly, I just want to be by your side, wagging my tail and making you smile. Oh, and I’m stinkin’ cute, too — just saying! /Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands! I also use proper ‘door’ etiquette and walk nicely on my leash – unless I see another dog – then it’s a little harder for me. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts as well as in my temporary home. / I’ve had good potty manners both at Mostly Mutts and in my temporary foster home. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I’m a happy little dog who loves people more than anything — especially when they hold me close and cuddle with me. I light up when you tell me I’m a good girl (I really love hearing it!) and I’ll do just about anything for a treat when I’ve been good. I also have a playful side — I love running and playing in the backyard, and if there’s a squirrel around, you better believe I’m on it! Whether we’re snuggling on the couch or chasing squirrels outside, I’m just so excited to be your loyal little buddy. / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a wonderful little girl looking for a home where I can be your only dog. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
