Description
Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. From muddy roadside ditch to deliverance....this cutie is sweet MAGGIE, a 5-6 year old, 15 pound, Jack Russell Terrier mix. This sweet pup was found by a good Samaritan laying in a ditch in the country; she was very happy to have been found and taken into his home. She was never claimed so she became a member of our rescue and is now seeking her forever person/family. Maggie is a big sweetheart who loves her humans! She wants and needs to be with her people as much as possible, so she’s an ideal candidate for people who work from home or for retirees. Maggie’s friendly, gentle, and loving and she absolutely loves to play with squeaky toys - true to a Terrier, for sure! Typical for the breed, Maggie has a bit of anxiety but not too bad. Maggie can be crated, if necessary, but she is not a fan of it. She loves her foster’s fenced-in-yard where she can run around as well as chase the squirrels. Maggie does pretty well walking on a leash, and would benefit from some daily walks. Because she can be dog selective at times, she would do best as the star of the show and be your one and only pup in the home. Maggie is housebroken with a consistent schedule. ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a securely fenced yard, and people home more throughout the day. This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, dewormed, groomed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
