Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Izzy has a goofy streak and a heart of gold. Sheâs the perfect mix of playful and snuggly â sheâll chase a ball with joy, then do a lovebug somersault just to cuddle up next to you. Once she bonds with her person, sheâs incredibly affectionate and loyal. Izzy has medium energy and would thrive in a quiet home with a yard or someone who enjoys outdoor adventures like walks or hikes. Sheâs good with other dogs and respectful of older pups. Sheâs house-trained and is currently working on crate training, and building confidence in new situations using positive reinforcement. She knows basic commands like sit, shake, and touch, and sheâs learning more every day. Izzy is looking for a forever home where sheâll be loved, understood, and given the consistency she deserves. If youâre looking for a sweet, silly, loyal companion â Izzy might just be your girl!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
