Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Little Sadie is such a clam, quiet and sweet soul. She enjoys laying and sitting around, observing all the other dogs and people. She can be shy at first but that is expected with dogs coming from situations like hers. She came from a home that had 11 other dogs and they were all being badly neglected. Despite that, she loves affection and is good with other dogs. She is learning about leashes and going for walks and she loves being inside the shelter and having a cool floor to lay on after playing out in the yard. She does not potty in her room here so will be easily house trained. Sadie is about a year old and only weighs 30lbs and won't get much bigger. She will make a wonderful dog for any dog person. If you would like more information, please contact our shelter at 870-269-5200 or go to our website, schspets, and complete an adoption application and someone will contact you for a meet and greet.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
