Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. We’re moving to Germany in September, and sadly, our new home doesn't allow pets. We're hoping to find a wonderful new home for Jasper, our sweet and laid-back 7-year-old Lab-Pitbull mix. Jasper is incredibly gentle and amazing with kids—he’s been wonderful with our 3-year-old daughter. We've typically kept him as the only dog since he was initially reactive to other dogs, but he’s had some great experiences with calmer dogs. He'd thrive best as an only pet or with another mellow dog. He’s fully updated on all vaccinations and medications and comes with everything you need—his bed, food, medicine, and other supplies. We really want Jasper to go to a loving and caring home rather than a shelter. Please reach out if you or anyone you know might be interested. Thanks so much! **** Breed: Black Lab **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2185387&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
