Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Henry is approximately 8 years old and weighs just shy of 70 pounds. He can afford to gain a few pounds, and he LOVES his food and treats! This laid back gentleman would prefer to have his humans with him most of the time, or have someone who works from home. He gets a little lonely all by himself with out human contact. He loves cardboard boxes, but mostly because we fill them with goodies to scrounge around and find! He is potty-trained, but we're unsure if he is "house broken". He is the sweetest-most gentle ol' man, and does great on a leash, too! He would love to have someone who understands his age, and that some lumps and bumps come with the territory of getting older. He is looking for his new retirement home! Kids- we are unsure how he does around them, but he has great language with cats, and doesn't mind other mellow-mannered dogs who can match his energy. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
