Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Meet Delilah – A Brave Momma Searching for a Safe Haven Delilah’s story is one of quiet strength and survival. This sweet girl was cruelly tossed out onto the streets while heavily pregnant, left to fend for herself in one of the most vulnerable times of her life. With no shelter and no one to care for her, Delilah gave birth to six puppies on her own. Tragically, only three survived — a heartbreaking reminder of the tough start she’s had. Despite everything she’s been through, Delilah has shown nothing but love, patience, and a gentle spirit. She’s a devoted mom to her remaining pups and now it’s her turn to be cared for. Delilah is in urgent need of a foster home where she can finally rest, heal, and feel safe. She’s estimated to be young, gets along well with people, loves children, and deserves a warm bed and a kind human to remind her that she matters. Fostering Delilah means giving her the love she’s always given — and never received. Can you open your heart and home to this courageous mama? Please note we do not usually adopt outside of San Diego County and surrounding areas.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
