Description
Dog Breed: Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie (long coat). Meet Peanut – A Tiny Warrior with a Huge Heart This sweet 1.5 year old Shetland Sheepdog has been through more than most dogs her age, but she hasn't let it dim her spirit one bit. Peanut was surrendered a few months ago after a tragic incident where she was attacked by another dog, leaving her with a severely broken lower jaw. Part of it had to be surgically removed, but she’s made an incredible recovery — and she's ready for her next chapter. Even though she is a purebred Sheltie, Peanut is very tiny — which just adds to her charm! Despite everything, Peanut is full of life and love: Super smart and food motivated Well socialized and playful – still has that puppy energy! Can be a little mouthy (puppy-style!), but easily redirected Does have food aggression with other animals, so she eats in her crate LOVES people and is always eager to please Peanut would thrive in a home that understands her past, supports her bright future, and gives her all the love she deserves. She may be small, but her heart is HUGE. If you are interested in applying to adopt Peanut, you must be over 21 and live within 2 hours of the Lehigh Valley, PA area within NJ or PA. visit our website to submit an application .outcastrescue

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
