Description
Dog Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Buddy is approx. 3 yrs old and very handsome. He loves to play in the backyard. He gets along with our female bulldog and our three cats. We believe he would do well either in a house with other dogs or children (not too little/young - over about age 8) to play with or a home with one or two owners he can make his family pack. He has not been exposed to children. He really is a smart, energetic, loveable guy. My husband and I are just too old for his activity needs. He likes any toys, his favorite is a ball that releases treats, he is a GREAT snuggle-r, and enjoys training time. So far, he knows "sit" "down" "up" and "lay down." The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Buddy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, so ongoing care and custody is provided by her foster, not by DFWRM.

Breed overview
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
A.K.A.: Stafford, Staffy, English Staffy, Staffie, Nanny Dog
Overview:
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, affectionately known as a "Staffy," is a robust and agile breed originating from 19th-century England, bred for its strength and courage. Physically, they are compact and muscular, with a broad head, pronounced cheek muscles, and a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors. Despite their powerful appearance, Staffies are renowned for their affectionate and gentle nature, particularly towards children, earning them the nickname "nanny dog." They are intelligent, highly trainable, and thrive on human companionship, making them excellent family pets. Their relatively small size and moderate exercise needs mean they can adapt well to apartment living, provided they receive daily walks and mental stimulation. Generally a healthy breed, they can be prone to certain conditions like L-2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria (L2HGA), hereditary cataracts, and patellar luxation, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper socialization and training, a Staffy will be a loyal, devoted, and entertaining companion.
