Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat). Available to foster or adopt! Breed: German Shepherd / Belgian Malinois DOB: 3/2024 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: large Color(s): black Description:***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. Hey folks, a little about me: I’m a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix. I’m super sweet – loyal – intelligent – friendly and may be a little shy, but I warm up quickly. Just throw me the ball and that’s all the “warm up” I need – you’ll have a friend for life. I’d like to have an active family as I want to play fetch, go for walks, biking, hiking, go for car rides and sit on the couch. I’m looking for a “furever” home because someone new came into the household who was allergic to me; so, I’m patiently waiting for my new family. I love people and due to my size, older kids may be better, and I have a little bit of a high-prey drive so cats are probably off limits. I’m doing well going into restaurants and stores and love the attention I get. I’m housebroken, crate trained, love car rides, I walk quite well on a leash and listen and look to you for direction. I’m gentle with treats, have no food or toy aggression. Love affection and cuddling, some may even say I’m a “Velcro” dog. I know sit and I’m learning other commands. A fenced-in backyard is a must so I can enjoy a good game of fetch and would even be open to other enrichment exercises. My recall is terrific and I’m friendly with dogs, but for some I may need a slow introduction. Gee whiz… I’m just a great dog! If you're looking for a great gal to add to your family, please fill out an online application to meet me!

A.K.A.: Alsatian, Alsatian Wolf Dog, Shepherd Dog, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund, Schäferhund, Berger Allemand, Pastore Tedesco, Perro de Pastor Alemán, Alsatian Dog
Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
