Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Milkshake – Sweet, Gentle, and Ready for a Fresh Start Milkshake’s story began at just two weeks old when she was brought into a Georgia shelter after her mother was heartbreakingly euthanized. She grew up behind shelter walls, never knowing the warmth of a real home. For seven long months, she waited… but no one came. Then her name appeared on the euthanasia list. That’s when we stepped in — because a dog this special deserves a second chance. Now safe in a loving foster home in South Georgia, Milkshake is ready to find her forever family. She’s a gentle, affectionate soul who adores people, gets along wonderfully with kids, and is great with other dogs and even cats. Because she’s spent her whole life in a shelter, she’s still learning about the world. Things like car rides and vacuum cleaners can make her a little nervous, but she’s making progress every day. She’s also working on her potty training and doing well — and she’s already great on a leash! Milkshake is a sweet companion with a heart full of love to give. Transportation can be arranged, but will be the responsibility of the adopter. Will you be the one to show her what home really means?

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
