Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Ernie! Ernie is a big, stunning gray Cane Corso who was once on the A-list at a California shelter, and now he’s ready for his forever home! Weighing in around 145 pounds, Ernie is as impressive in size as he is in personality. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who absolutely loves to cuddle and will happily snuggle up with his favorite people. Ernie is a toy enthusiast—whether it’s squeaky toys or tug ropes, he’s always up for some fun! When it comes to walks, Ernie can be a bit strong on the leash, but he does much better with a prong collar and a confident handler. For Ernie’s ideal home, we recommend no young children due to his size and strength. He’s best with female dogs only, if any, as he tends to do better with calmer canine companions. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and playful best friend who also enjoys his cuddle time, Ernie might just be the perfect match! Ernie is with AZ Mastiff Rescue. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
