Description
Dog Breed: Dachshund / Mixed. Meet Trixie 11 lbs of love • Velcro dog energy • Leash pro Trixie is a 1-year-old mix with a big heart in a tiny body. She’s a bit of a nervous Nelly at first and will need a patient owner to help get her out of her shell and properly introduce her to other people. Trixie absolutely adores other dogs and would do best in a home with another confident and playful dog to show her the ropes. Once she comes out of her shell, Trix is all love and play. She is an A+ snuggler, does well in her crate (although she has been trustworthy left out and would rather sleep snuggled up next to you), is doing very well with recall and potty training, and just loves to be loved. She needs a family that can show her that the world doesn't have to be scary and will encourage her to be confident. She has done well with children although her nerves do get the best of her and she does act out of fear upon initial introduction. Children that understand this and can be confident around her will make a best friend for life once they earn her trust. She also is a spunky gal and loves to play and run zoomies. She would rather run in the yard with a dog friend than take a walk so it would be a great bonus for her to have a yard to do so She’s dog-friendly, mealtime-friendly (she can share space without drama), and fully potty-trained thanks to her expert use of the dog door. Trixie came to us with a deep gash on her side after trying to escape the shelter kennels—she was terrified and just trying to survive. She was on the kill list before rescue, but you’d never guess that now. She’s a happy, loving little dog who’s just desperate for a person of her own. Trixie is ready to be your shadow, your walking buddy, your cuddle bug, and your reason to smile every day. Don’t miss out on this one. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.
