I spent the early years of my life as a mill mom, so I’m still figuring out how to be a dog in a home filled with kindness. Everything is new to me — doors, soft voices, treats, warm beds, and most of all… trust. But I’m trying, every single day. Right now, I’m living with a kind foster family and a gentle dog friend who’s been showing me the ropes. I’ve learned how to climb five steps to get into the house (yay me!), but I’m still working on going down the steps to go outside. Potty training is coming along slowly, but I’m doing my best. I’m still nervous about walking on a leash — the street noises scare me — but I feel braver when I follow my foster dog buddy. I watch him closely, and I’m starting to understand that the world might not be as scary as I thought. Loud or sudden noises still make me flinch, but I’m getting used to the sounds of home — TVs, footsteps, even the fridge hum. I recently met some kind senior humans and their two dogs — one small, one large — and I loved all of them. I even snuggled with the humans! I think I’d do really well in a home with another calm, confident dog to help me feel safe. Car rides are a work in progress. I shake at first in the crate, but after a while, I settle down and fall asleep. I’ve also been to the vet a couple times (scary!) — both vets said I’m going to be an amazing dog once I come out of my shell. And you know what? I think they’re right. I’ve never tried to bite — even when I’ve been scared. I might cower or tremble, but I just want to be held gently and know that I’m safe. I especially love cuddles with my foster mom. Men still make me nervous, but I’m watching and learning. I know that not all hands hurt. If you’re patient, gentle, and willing to walk beside me as I keep growing, I promise to give you all the love I’ve been saving up. I may be quiet now, but there’s a spark inside me — and I’m ready to let it shine.
