Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. ARIANNA - 1 year old, 45 pounds, house trained, needs time to warm up to new people Arianna is a new resident at VBACAC having been surrendered for her reactivity to new people. To the ones she knows, she is loving, affectionate and playful. To the ones she does not know she needs to be given space and allowed to approach new people at her own pace in her own time. Everyone you see does not need to pet her. We are told she is more reactive when people walk towards and up to her. On the other hand, we are told Arianna is friendly and playful to children and other dogs. She even lived with a cat which she would try to play with. She loves going for walks but, being silly and spirited, Arianna will chase after everything but the kitchen sink! Please hold onto that leash! Arianna does not like being left alone. She has shown this by chewing and messing up floors and her crate. Many of the above behaviors can be managed with continued training. Seeing as Arianna is still so incredibly young, daily and ongoing training will most likely help curb and ultimately erase the behaviors. Arianna is otherwise a happy and jubilant girl who loves to run, play with toys and snuggle. Her bright white fur with brown patches and one brown eye will definitely make you smile. She is currently in a back kennel so if you come in to meet her and don't see her, please just ask.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
