Here is a summary about this handsome young fellow. Tobs is a healthy 55 pound baja mutt (likely shepherd mix) 1.5yr old neutered male, nothing to report on his medical and completely UTD Information about his personality and behavior: Toby has had one foster when he was a young pup for about 6 months where he was in a home with a yard and several young roommates, no other pets in the home, he did GREAT and was very loved. The following are notes from his current foster who has cared for him since January 2025 at casa de ARWOB. Toby lives with multiple dogs and cats (different sex/ages/sizes and behavior-personalities) he is dog and cat friendly. Regarding dogs: he is dog friendly and introduced to the multiple rescues that come and go at casa de arwob there is no problem. Toby is not currently a dog park/dog beach kind of dog. He wants to and we have gone but its a 50.50 with other dogs at parks. He may be able to do so in the future once he has had a human to train great recall. He is perfectly fine meeting dogs on leash and off leash in a much calmer setting than dog parks. If you are looking for a dog park dog this boy is currently not it but can easily be once he has found a human to train one on one. Please, take a look at the million videos and pictures we have on his ARWOB biography to see who Toby is and get an idea of how wonderful he is. Toby is a full grown adult BUT still a puppy at heart which means he is silly, loves to be adored, and VERY food motivated and intelligent like all shepherds. Toby LOVES outings and we keep him active on daily walks, he will not be a happy dog just being a house dog UNLESS you have a large property with acrage. He ADORES going on car trips, exploring ei going for walks, hikes and he could be a good running partner as he is pretty FAST off leash and he would love an adopter with a large property to just RUN or adopter who is active and will keep him exercised. He is a very good hiking/walking companion in calm environments, he WILL pull strongly when distractions like other dogs are around him. Not reactive, just excited. He is a BRIGHT dog and learns fast. so we know once Toby has a human(s) of his own to work with him he will be corrected in no time. He always sit for food or when he wants something like being petted, treats, leash etc. He seeks eye contact for guidance and he could learn so much more if he had a human who could just work one on one with him. As his current foster I have to many foster dogs to just solely focus on this handsome goofball. Toby is house, potty and crate trained. He is one of the foster dogs who has full run of the house because he is trusted. Although he sleeps in the crate he could easily have the livingroom without worry of him having accidents. He loves to play with toys and a bit of a Kluts at fetch its endering to see how badly he misses the ball ha ha The way to Toby's heart is always the stomach, he is a total foodie BUT he will not be stealing food from counters which is great. He loves bully sticks/benabones which will keep him entertained He loves people both adult and children and likes to greet them, he has had rare ocassions where he may be insecure/unsure of a human be it woman or man and will bark a couple of times. This is likely a shepherd trait of trust. His body language and voice will tell you and baby talk to indicate to him that the people 'are ok' will calm him down and greet nicely. Anyone adopting shephers know this trait of protection. He can go through stages of excitement through the day towards the cats, he will ignore them or want to play with them and of course depending on the cats/kittens personalities he will ignore or initiate play. Toby is cat safe yet excitable at times ei can be too much for some cats. Do you Have cats or want to have cats? contact us and we can help determine if Toby would be good match for your situation. Note - Toby along with the rest of the foster dogs at home are never left home unsupervised. Summary: Toby is a handsome loving goofy dog who is fun and a great home companion who needs work, mostly because he is young and strong. A leader is best and if a new beginner as a dog owner enrolling in group classes at your local dog trianing comapny will help his human learn how to be a good leader/dog owner. Note: Toby does need a secured fenced yard ei 6 feet or taller through the perimeter. He can jumo a 4ft fence. Hope this helps and any questions or concerns email her foster with questions or easier to schedule a call. animalrescuersicloud We offer foster to adopt trials which are best especially if you have multiple humans or pets in the house hold. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
