Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Meet Waylon! Hound Mix | Born ~May 10 | 13.5 lbs (and growing!) Waylon is a happy-go-lucky hound mix pup with a heart as big as his floppy ears! At just over two months old, he's already showing the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and sweet, mellow snuggle buddy when it's time to wind down. Waylon gets along great with kids, other dogs, and even cats—he’s a friendly, easygoing pup who just wants to be part of the fun. Whether he's romping in the yard, playing with a new toy, or napping by your feet, Waylon is always happy to be included. He’s currently 13.5 lbs, and he’s expected to grow into a 65–75 lb hound dog, so he’ll need a securely fenced yard where he can safely stretch his legs and do what hounds do best: run, sniff, and explore. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and playful companion who will grow up to be your best buddy, Waylon just might be your guy! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
