Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Need we say more about (this) Barbie Dreamhouse? This oh so happy lady is in foster care with PAWS after being found as a stray. Now that things are looking up, this three-year-old pup would love to find her forever home with you as soon as possible! We are still learning more about Barbie each day, but she is such a wiggly, waggy, and smiley delight and is already showing off her goofy personality to everyone she meets. Her original finder and current foster describe her as; fun, friendly with everyone, playful, and a good listener, and we agree! Barbie’s favorite activities include walking with a toy in her mouth, receiving pets (especially butt scritches), and basking in attention from her favorite people. So far Barbie is finding the hustle and bustle of life in the city to be overwhelming, and we suspect that she would thrive in a quieter area, and love a backyard of her own. She’s done well with meeting dogs in the past (lots of joyful wiggles!), but is still working on her leash manners around new people and other animals. So she would love walks in a lower traffic neighborhood! Barbie needs to lose about ten pounds before having her spay surgery, which PAWS will provide once she's reached her goal weight. In the meantime, she is ready to trade her plastic digs for a real life dream home via our Pre-Adopt Program, and please submit your application and reach out if you’re ready to share your home with this house hippo! Age: ~3 years old How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: A-180145 Weight: 81 lbs, and on a weight loss plan Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
