Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed. Tucci is as sweet as pie and twice as charming! This playful, silly little guy is full of love and personality. He gets along great with most other dogs and has done well meeting children too. Whether he’s goofing around or snuggling up next to you, Tucci brings joy wherever he goes. He came to us after being surrendered to animal control but he’s remained a happy, loving pup. Tucci is visually impaired due to bilateral cataracts, so he occasionally bumps into things—but he navigates his world with confidence and heart. He’s working on potty training and already knows cues like “sit” and “stay.” With a little patience and a lot of love, Tucci will make an amazing companion. He’s ready to find his forever home—could it be yours? Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Follow us on Facebook for additional updates and sneak peeks of new dogs! .facebook/reachrescue

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
