Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: Mooresville, NC DOB: 06/07/2021 Meet Broley, a handsome white Great Dane with a goofy streak and a gentle, thoughtful soul. At his core, he’s a big clown who loves nothing more than simply being near his person. Once he knows he can trust you, his sweet, easygoing personality shines through, and he’ll happily spend his days lounging, following you around the house, or curling up for long naps at your side. Broley has definite couch-potato tendencies and thinks a comfy spot and a calm home are just about perfect. He’s a champion napper, an enthusiastic snuggler, and he’ll gladly share the couch—especially if you got there first or have a treat to sweeten the deal. Out in the yard, he’s content with a bit of exploring and light play, but he doesn’t need high-energy adventures to be happy. A fenced yard where he can relax and move at his own pace suits him well. He’s still learning that new people can be safe and kind, so he may be wary at first and sometimes reacts when faced with unfamiliar adults. But with patient, gentle handling, he’s making steady progress. He’s smart, observant, and slowly discovering how to play, and he appreciates someone who will go at his pace and show him the world doesn’t have to be scary. Broley is fully housetrained and walks nicely on a leash. He does best having his own room instead of a crate, where he can stretch out and feel secure. He’s muzzle trained, too, which makes vet visits and new situations easier for him. He recently completed heartworm treatment, and his future adopter should follow up with their vet to confirm his status. He hasn’t yet been introduced to other dogs, cats, or children in his foster home, so a careful, structured introduction plan would be needed if those are part of his future family. He does have a mischievous side—Broley is a proud countersurfer and has a particular fondness for apples, mangos, and bread. With consistency and supervision, he’s learning the rules, but his new family should expect a bit of creativity and persistence from this smart guy. Broley’s ideal home is quiet, patient, and understanding. He’ll thrive with someone who appreciates the Dane “lean,” doesn’t mind a little dog hair, and is willing to give him the time he needs to build trust. A fenced yard would give him a safe space to relax, and a home with kind adults who come around regularly would help him continue his progress with meeting new people. With the right family, Broley will blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who brings equal parts silliness and sweetness to every day. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
