Description
Dog Breed: Wirehaired Fox Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Scrappy is a cute boy who is looking for a home. Scrappy is with our partner rescue in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon. We do offer a foster-to-adopt home for approved adopters. Scrappy was an owner surrender to our partner rescue due to her owners new work schedule. Scrappy is a friendly, playful boy who likes other dogs. He is trained to use the doggie door in his LA foster home. Scrappy was tested with cats and although he barked at first, he did not chase and seemed scared. Scrappy is fixed, up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. His adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. Apply to foster or adopt wagoninn.rescuegroups

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
