Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. *Name: Dandelion *Age: 8 years old *Current Weight: 10 lbs *Adoption fee: $300 (plus $150 spay/neuter deposit, see below for more information) Don’t let her past define her — Dandelion is proof that love and resilience can bloom even in the toughest conditions. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case and pulled from the NYACC shelter, this 8-year-old sweetheart is finally getting her second chance… and she’s soaking up every moment. Dandelion is a total lovebug who just wants to be near her people. She’s sweet, affectionate, and playful — the perfect mix of gentle and fun! Despite her age, she’s still got plenty of pep in her step and enjoys playtime with her doggy friends. She’s great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion or two. After everything she’s been through, Dandelion deserves a home full of comfort, kindness, and belly rubs. Could that home be yours? IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. SNARR requires a $150 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly enforced Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
