Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. A FUN, SMART & ACTIVE PUPPY: Approx. 4 months old. / Approx. 25 lbs. & growing Hi, I’m Britt, an adorable and happy pup who somehow ended up at animal control — I'm not quite sure how that happened, but I’m just glad that’s behind me now! I’ve got a bright spirit, and I’m so excited to start this next chapter with a family who’ll love me as much as I’ll love them. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, but I will meet them soon. If you have a friendly dog at home who would like an active puppy friend, let’s meet! / I haven’t met kitties yet. / I met kids at Mostly Mutts who were around 10 years old, and I loved them — in fact I was sort of all over them, so if you have kids around that age, let’s meet and no toddlers that I would likely overwhelm with my enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers describe me as a fun, energetic, and super playful pup with lots of puppy energy to share! I get a little jumpy and mouthy sometimes — what can I say, I’m still learning and everything is just so exciting! I didn’t love my shelter bath at first, but once the sprayer came on, I started having fun and even tried to drink the water — I’m so silly. I love to bounce around, and just be my sweet, silly self — and have you seen my big ears yet? “The better to hear you!” With a little guidance and lots of love, I know I’m going to be an amazing best friend! / Energy level: 6-8, so I’m looking for a family that will be active with me as I grow up. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, and ‘come’ commands and I look forward to learning more. I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog — including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy — so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I’m having accidents on the shelter schedule as I’m still a young puppy figuring things out, so I’ll need patience and training to learn where to go potty — but with consistency and love, I believe I’ll get there like a champ! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love toys, people, and pretty much everything about being a puppy — playtime, learning, and all the fun in between! / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
