Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. This girl was dumped at the shelter to be euthanized. Her mouth was in pretty bad shape, and now she only has 1 tooth left. Sadie was in a great deal of pain, screaming each time we touched her. We knew something was seriously wrong with her. We took her back to our vet for xrays and they revealed a spinal injury. Commonly known as 'collapsing vertebrae'. I believe it's also referred to as 'spondylosis'. We'll upload images next week when our vet opens and can send them to us. For now, she's on pain management and total crate rest. Her back/spine is inflamed and angry. She needs to heal.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
