Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Meet Ingalls… or rather “Jake,” because apparently, “Ingalls” was far too fancy. Jake has decided my house is now his house, complete with full free-range privileges even when I’m gone. The crate? Oh, he’ll whine if you shut the door—but leave it open and suddenly it’s his VIP lounge, especially when my mini Aussie starts giving him the side-eye. Jake is ball-obsessed, loves to wrestle with his stuffed bear (look at this precious video ) , and will leap straight up like an Olympian at mealtime just to remind you how “starving” he is. He’s a 50-pound paperweight when he leans in for pets, equal parts clingy and charming. His leash skills, once an upper-body workout, are improving every day, and he’s proven to be a total snuggle bug with my visiting mom. For a dog who pretends not to know his own name, Jake sure knows how to win hearts. Ingalls is from a local reservation.
