Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Izzy was a local rescue. She is 8-9 months old. She weighs 33 pounds and the vet thinks she will not get much bigger. She is happy, playful and full of energy. She needs a fenced-in enclosure to play and run off her energy. We are unable to provide this for her. She is good with kids of all ages, dogs and cats. We have not seen an ounce of aggression…. you can take food out of her mouth. She is not sensitive with her feet or ears. She is crate trained. She does like to chew so your house needs to be puppy proof. She is very smart and has learned sit, down and we are working on watch me, stay and leave it. We take a long walk on a leash every morning. We love her but are not able to give her the attention that she needs due to a recent medical crisis in our family. **** Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2185505&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
