Hi, I’m Thelma — your pint-sized bundle of speed, sunshine, and sass! I may be small, but I’ve got a big personality and an even bigger zest for life. I’m quick on my feet (like, really quick), so if you’re looking for a little shadow with a zoomie mode, I might just be your girl. I’m still learning that cuddles can be wonderful — I’ll let you love on me more and more once I trust you. For now, I’m happiest when I have a cozy spot under the bed or by a sunny window where I can soak up rays and keep watch over the world. Watching birds, butterflies, and squirrels? That’s my jam. I love to chase all the things outside, so I absolutely need a leash or a lead rope — trust me, I don’t realize how far my little legs can carry me! I’m potty trained, know my name (even if I pretend not to hear it sometimes), and I’m great with other dogs, cats, and people — even kids don’t phase me. I do have one cat in my life I like to tease a little… it keeps things interesting. Now, about barking. I didn’t start out as a barker, but I picked it up somewhere along the way. My foster uses a citronella puff collar now and then just to remind me when to hush — I don’t wear it all the time, just when I need a little help remembering my indoor voice. I love toys and playing with other dogs, and meal times are my favorite! Say the word “eat,” and I’m already in position. Grooming? I don’t mind — a girl’s gotta look and smell her best, after all. If you’re looking for a playful, curious, window-watching, sunshine-seeking little pal who’s still learning the ropes and ready to grow with you, let’s meet. I’m Thelma — and I think you’ll like having me around. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
