Dog Breed: Shepherd. Millie is smart and eager to please, quickly learning commands like "Sit," "Down," and "No". She naturally looks to people for guidance, making her a loyal and attentive companion. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playtime. Her playful curiosity brings joy to every moment, whether she's chasing a toy or exploring the yard. Millie will thrive in a home where she's truly part of the family--loved, included, and cared for every day. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Millie is participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, so ongoing care and custody is provided by her foster, not by DFWRM.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
