Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. It breaks our hearts but we are in the position where we have to rehome our 5 year old lab mix Riley. We have had her since she was just a puppy. Riley absolutely loves people and doles out kisses in response to some good petting and belly rubs. She is very good With children and has been around our grandchildren since they were born. Her favorite thing in the world is to snuggle next to a human while they are reading or watching tv. She also loves long trail walks and car rides. The only reason we have to let her go is because she cannot be around small dogs. Probably not cats either, but I don’t think she has ever experienced one. We are now in a condominium community and we cannot put up a fence. Ideally there is someone out there who would love a companion. She has been ok with most big dogs but CANNOT be exposed to small dogs unless she is leashed and under complete control. Please let me know if you know of anyone who might fit the bill. I guarantee you would have many years of love and snuggles. **** Breed: Lab mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2185921&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
