Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet Brooks, a stunning 3-year-old Merle Great Dane weighing in at 130 lbs. Neutered, housebroken, and professionally trained, Brooks is looking for a foster or forever home where he can thrive as an only dog OR with a happy go lucky puppy type of dog. Why Brooks Needs Help Brooks has been in his current home for a year but has recently had serious altercations with the resident Great Dane. After a year of peaceful coexistence, a sudden shift in dynamics led to fights resulting in ER visits and surgery. Out of safety for both dogs, Brooks needs a new environment. To be clear the OTHER dane was the instigator but now Brooks defends himself and holds a grudge..can’t blame him after being attacked so many times. Behavior & Personality -Housebroken, leash trained, and crate familiar. Trained in basic obedience, knows “place” command -Rides well in the car -Sensitive to loud noises, tends to pace, and needs reassurance with a toy or redirection -Protective, playful, and extremely loyal -No known cat history, good around vet clinic cat, excitable around horses -Has not lived with children but may do fine with older, dog-savvy kids Health Notes -Up to date on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Has vaccines. Neutered. -Has skin allergies that are well-managed with Apoquel and a poultry-free diet. Eats Merrick Salmon kibble (3 cups, twice a day) He’s primarily an indoor dog with outdoor play on a horse property.
